Get on the roll

More than 1.4 million Australians are ‘missing’ from the electoral roll, with younger Australians aged 18 - 39 years making up about 70 per cent of the total.
In Australia, it's your right and responsibility to vote in elections. In fact it's compulsory for Australian citizens over the age of 18. Your vote is valuable - it's important that you enrol so you can have your say.
The Australian Electoral Commission has launced a new campaign to get people aged 18-39 on the roll at the right address. The campaing is called "Famous People Vote Too".
Australian television personalities, sports stars and comedians are lending their support to the campaign to show that ALL Australians, including celebrities, should enrol to vote so that they can have their say in the upcoming election.
With a federal election likely to be called in 2010, now is the time to get on the roll or check that your details are correct.
- If you've never enrolled to vote - get on the roll now!
- If you turned 18 since the last election - you can now vote for the first time!
- 17 year-olds: you can enrol now so you're ready to vote when you turn 18.
- If you have become an Australian citizen since the last election... Congratulations! You can now have your say on election day.
- If you've moved house remember to update your enrolment details -it's not automatic. If you don't update your enrolment you risk falling off the roll.
