The countdown is on to Australia’s first Social Inclusion Week and National Street Party Weekend to be held from on 23-29 November 2009.
Created by Dr Jonathon Welch AM, Australian of the Year - Local Hero 2008 and the founding Music Director of the Choir of Hard Knocks (now known as the Choir of Hope and Inspiration), Social Inclusion Week is a call to action for all Australians to realise the benefits of engaging with their fellow citizens and communities.
Jonathan Welch says that Social Inclusion Week offers the chance to focus on what it means to be Australian, to give others a fair go, and to realise that we all benefit when we feel connected, supported and cared for. It's all about WE!
