Victorian Bushfires10 February 2009In the last week or so, nature’s ferocity has made an indelible mark, exposing the possible fragility of life. Along with the carnage caused, it has swept away petty concerns, and with brutal clarity reminded us what is of true value in life. The Health Services Union expresses its profound sadness, and extends its deepest condolences to the victims of this tragedy.
At times like this we are abruptly reminded of the value of people, the inherent decency of most, and the importance of community. The Health Services Union calls on its 70,000 members Australia wide to dig deep and donate to the Red Cross Appeal by calling 1800 811 700 to make a credit card donation or log on to the Red Cross . The Health Services Union stands ready to do it's part. We will also stand by members affected by this tragedy. Members who are experiencing hardship because of the fires should contact their local branch of the HSU. We encourage all Union members to take up a collection in the workplace, and for their employers to participate in the community spirit by matching whatever is raised. Download File: |
