HSU Join Save Medibank Alliance
21 September 2006
Under increasing pressure from unions, media, doctors, community groups and health academics - the Government has postponed its plans to commence a share market float Medibank Private.
However, in the next few weeks Members of Parliament will vote on the Medibank Private Limited Sale Bill - which will enable the sale of Medibank Private to occur at anytime, (Tony Abbott says that won't occur unless the Coalition is re-elected)
The Save Medibank community campaign has the aim of generating broader public interest in the privatisation of Medibank.
Save Medibank is an informal alliance of academics,
trade unions (Nurses, Health Services Union and LHMU), NGOs such as the Doctors Reform Society, Chronic Illness Alliance and Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association of NSW Inc and former Commissioners of the Health Insurance Commission.
The Save Medibank alliance is now focussed on making health policy and the privatisation of Medibank an election issue in 2007.
Please find about the
Save Medibank campaign and fill out the <> online survey.
Save Medibank does not require a financial contribution, but donations to the campaign are welcome.
