Government Offer Inadequate on Wages in Tasmania
14 November 2003
The Tasmanian branch of the Health Services Union has described as an insult the state government's offer of a 7.5 per cent wage increase over three and a half years.
The offer falls well short of the claim submitted by the branch, known as the Health and Community Services Union, in conjunction with other public sector unions.
The key features of the claim are:
- 6% wage increase for each year of the agreement;
- A number of family friendly measures;
- Increase in paid leave in a number of areas;
- Measures to address workload problems;
- Rights for union delegates and representatives to assist members;
- Security of employment measures;
- An increase in employer superannuation payments;
HACSU will keep members informed as negotiations proceed
