Victorian Stopwork over Medicare, Higher Education and IR03 November 2003Healthworkers are being invited to take part in a rally in Melbourne on Tuesday November 11. The rally will start at 10am with members of unions and community groups linking together outside Trades Hall in Lygon Street, Carlton. There will then be a march down Swanston Street to St Paul's Cathedral opposite Federation Square. The rally is being organised to protest against the Federal Government's changes to Medicare, higher education and workers rights. The HSU has been campaigning hard against the Medicare package which is before the Senate which would see bulk-billing confined to pensioners and concession card holders and lead to even greater workloads for public hospital staff. |
