Become a Super Cadet20 October 2003The HSU is supporting the inaugural Super Cadets program which is looking for the next generation of leaders in the $100 billion not-for-profit sector of the superannuation industry. Bernie Fraser, ex- Governor of the Reserve Bank, independent director of the Australian Retirement Fund, supports the Super Cadets program Super Cadets is also supported by the ACTU. Superannuation funds are looking for idealistic, motivated candidates who wish to contribute to improving the quality of retirement incomes for working Australians, and who share the values of not-for-profit industry and public sector super funds. Cadets will be employed by a participating super fund in addition to 4 weeks off-the-job training and a 6 week placement with a union or employer association. It is intended that cadets receive ongoing employment at the conclusion of the cadetship. Positions will include marketing, communications, client services, investment and policy/research. The objective of the placement is for the cadet to learn about the union, members and workplaces relevant to their fund. Subject to interest from funds and suitable candidates, Super Cadets will be operating nationally. It is anticipated that the majority of Cadets will be based in Melbourne. What You Need to KnowDesired: Applications from union activists, workplace delegates and union organisers with an interest in Super will be particularly well regarded. The cadetships will commence in February 2004. Send Application to: David Whiteley
